There's so much to do in one short summer - why not do it all? At Roughing It you get a chance to try many outdoor activities, from fishing, kayaking, swimming, and sports to trail riding on horseback.

There's something for everyone and specific activities to suit all abilities. Our "Challenge by Choice" in each area of camp allows you to participate at your own skill level: basic introductions through advanced. We encourage you to try as many new activities as possible, and when you find something you really love, there are extra opportunities to visit these areas each week.

Our experienced staff support you all the way. You can take safe risks and try new things in a respectful, accepting environment. We want you to be the best you can be at any activity you choose. Join in, make friends, meet new people, and have a really great time doing it ALL this summer!

A Strong Community Where Everyone Belongs

We create an all-inclusive group where everybody is accepted and respected. Your group will be composed of teens your same age, and the bond this group will develop over the course of the summer will be a lasting one. Your camp group is a safe and supportive community where everyone knows and accepts you. Our four and eight week sessions build teamwork, friendships, confidence, skills, and leadership. The structure of the Roughing It program fosters a true sense of community that is unique among day camps in the Bay Area. Lifelong friendships are made at Roughing It.
