Meet our Swim Staff

Jenna Olson

Swim Director,  4th Year Staff Member
Diablo Valley College — Computer Science

We were so lucky to have Jenna back at Roughing It for her fourth summer! In past summers Jenna has done an amazing job as a swim counselor and the Assistant Swim Director and we were so excited to have her back. She stepped up this summer into the Swim Director position and she did such an amazing job. Thanks to her hard work and great mentorship and supervision she really led the swim program to being smooth and successful. Jenna is currently studying Computer Science at Diablo Valley College. She loves being outdoors and spending time with family.

Rio Nickerson

Assistant Swim Director, 2nd Year Staff Member 
Cal State University East Bay — Music Education

Rio is back! This summer Rio joined the Swim Staff and our Admin Staff as the Assistant Swim Counselor! Rio is a long-time Roughing It camper with over 10 summers with us at the Reservoir! He looked forward to helping the campers improve their swimming skills and make lasting memories this summer! He helped accomplish this with his fantastic swim lessons as well as great administrative supervision over the swim counselors and swim program overall. Rio attends Cal State East Bay pursuing a degree in Music Education.

Loren Walker

Swim Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
University of Oregon — Human Physiology, minor in Legal Studies

We were so excited to welcome Loren onto our Swim Staff this summer! Loren is a long-time camper as this was her tenth summer at Roughing It! She did an amazing job in our CILT and JC programs and, as expected, did a phenomenal job as a swim counselor! Loren loves to be active and outdoors through playing sports while growing up. In particular, she always enjoyed (and excelled at) the Roughing It swimming program! This made her a fantastic swim counselor as she was well-versed in Roughing It’s swim program as well as experienced in working with the campers. Loren is attending the University of Oregon majoring in Human Physiology with a minor in Legal Studies and Ethics.

Bella Rotzin

Swim Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo — Food Science

It was so great to welcome Bella to the Swim Staff this summer! Bella was previously one of our Junior Counselors and did such an amazing job. We knew she would make a fantastic swim counselor with her love of the outdoors, swim experience, and great camp spirit! She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as having fun outside with rollerblading, hiking, and more! Bella is currently attending Cal Poly San Luis Obsipo studying Food Science.

Kiki Mein

Swim Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Indiana University — Business

We were so lucky to welcome Kiki to the Swim Staff this summer! Kiki has been doing recreational swimming her whole life including varsity swimming and water polo during all four years of high school. She loves working with children on their swimming and is really excelled teaching the campers new strokes and techniques! She did an amazing job in particular helping our youngest campers work on their confidence in the water and have fun at the same time. Kiki plays water polo at Indiana University and eventually plans on attending the Kelly Business School!

Haley Hunter

Swim Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Indiana University — Broadcast Journalism

Haley joined the Swim Staff this summer with a lot of sports and swimming experience. She has coached swimming for two summers and ran a sports camp as well. She has great energy and camp spirit and made an amazing swim counselor. She enjoys working with children and really enjoyed combining that with her love of swimming to be a fantastic swim counselor. Haley currently attends Indiana University where she plays water polo as well as studies Broad Journalism in pursuit of Sports Broadcasting!

Zoe Crouch

Swim Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Indiana University — Sports Marketing and Management

It was great to welcome Zoe to our Swim Staff this summer! Zoe is an extremely experienced swimmer having learned at 18 months and tried to swim every day since. She played many sports growing up and overall loves to be outdoors and active. She also really enjoys spending time with kids and enjoyed spending time with the campers and teaching them to swim and encourage healthy and active lifestyles! She was a great role model and really helped many campers improve their swimming skills. Zoe currently plays water polo at Indiana University where she studies Sports Marketing and Management.
