Roughing It Day Camp programs available for young campers. Campers in preschool, pre-K, Kindergarten and beyond, all thrive at Roughing It. We offer specific programs and specific groups to fulfill the needs and exceed the expectations of our youngest campers and their families. Roughing It Day Camp's Kinder Campers, Little Raccoons, and Little Explorers programs cater to these younger ages and are tailored to the stamina, interests, and developmental goals of each age group.

All outdoors & Instruction offered in a variety of activity areas. Roughing It is an all outdoors program that offers a variety of activities for all campers specific to age and ability. All adult staff with first aid, CPR and Lifeguard certifications. Roughing It hires, trains and supervises all of it's own staff and selects all adult counselors from over 800 qualified applicants each year. Swim and Waterfront staff are Lifeguard Certified and all staff have current CPR and First Aid certifications. 

ROUGHING IT DAY CAMP, KINDER CAMPERS  (4 - 6 years old)

Young campers are ready and eager to participate in our 4 or 8-week Day Camp program which provides the maximum opportunity and consistency for campers to build skills, confidence and make friends. Kinder Campers are placed  in either the Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten group at camp (1st graders and older have their own camper groups specific to grade and gender) so all activities are specific to age and ability including instruction in horseback riding, swimming, fishing, rowing, crafts, sports and more. Transportation is included from home and central locations.

LITTLE RACCOONS  (4 - 6 years old)

While most of our youngest campers are ready for the full Roughing It "Kinder Campers" program, some younger children and their parents may wish to start with our Little Raccoons program. This program is a shorter camp experience (2 week sessions) with fewer scheduled activities for a less busy camp day. Little Raccoons are in their own co-ed camper group with campers 4 - 6 years old. Transportation is included from central locations.

LITTLE EXPLORERS  (3 - 4 years old)

This one-week, half day program is an introduction to the Roughing It experience for campers 3 - 4 years old. Little Explorers enjoy a variety of camp activities with a small group of campers and their own experienced Roughing It counselors. Transportation is not provided for the Little Explorer program. Little Explorers are dropped-off and picked-up at the Lafayette Reservoir by a parent/guardian during their camp session. Learn more about Little Explorers
