Rowing
Waterfront counselors teach rowing skills to younger campers. Safety on the water is the first priority, so campers learn to put on their own Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) and board the boats properly. All campers, even campers who are non-swimmers, can participate in all boating activities. While in the boats with a staff member, campers learn the coxswain, rower and lookout positions. Once they have learned the basics, campers participate in challenges where teamwork is essential.
Some skills a camper will learn at Rowing:
- Has knowledge of rules and safety
- Can put on Personal Floatation Device (PFD)
- Knowledge of boat terms and parts
- Rows with help of a partner
- Synchronization of strokes
- Effective Coxswain

At rowing, there is always a staff member in each
boat to ensure safety and accompany campers.
