Campers 5th grade and above learn to kayak.

All kayaking activities are taught by our waterfront staff who are certified lifeguards.

Kayaking

Older campers, 5th grade and above, travel to the other side of the reservoir to participate in tandem kayaking. This side of the reservoir is only explored by campers in kayaks, making it a new and exciting place to discover. Basic skills and safety involved in controlling these fun and maneuverable watercrafts are first taught on land and then perfected out at sea. Campers learn that teamwork is essential in order to travel in straight lines, turn, and dock the boats. As camper’s skills progress, the staff comes up with new and exciting challenges that perfect skills while having fun! Some skills a camper will learn at Kayaking:

  • Has knowledge of rules and safety as well as vocabulary
  • Paddle in tandem with a partner
  • Knowledge of different types of strokes
  • Participation in excursions and obstacles courses around the reservoir

After mastering basic skills, campers improve by participating in challenges specially designed to help campers excel.

Staff always accompany campers while out on the water to ensure safety.
