CampPlus Coordinator

The CampPlus Coordinator manages and organizes Roughing It’s after camp program, CampPlus. Some campers choose to participate in our CampPlus program, where they spend the late afternoon engaged in the camp activity of their choice: horseback riding, swimming, sports, arts and crafts, fishing, or adventure. The CampPlus Coordinator is responsible for processing enrollments for this program, ordering supplies, getting campers to the appropriate CampPlus activity, and supervising staff and transportation for the program. This administrator also oversees the enrollment and supply orders for our before camp program, Breakfast Club. The CampPlus coordinator spends much of his/her time in the office, answering phones, completing paperwork, and placing supply orders on-line. Other duties may also include running errands, completing tasks assigned by other administrators, and supervising CampPlus activities and the CampPlus staff. The CampPlus coordinator must have outstanding organizational skills, excellent communication skills, familiarity with computer operations, and be mature, personable, and detail oriented. It is recommended that this staff member have previous experience working in a position with management, organizational and supervisory responsibilities.

Prerequisites:

  • Completed second year of college (by start of summer)
  • Excellent Driving Record
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certifications
  • Strong phone and email communication skills
  • Must attend Administrative Staff Training & Staff Training
  • Experience supervising children
  • Leadership or supervisor experience recommended, but not required

Transportation Coordinator

The Transportation Coordinator supervises the entire transportation program for Roughing It and is responsible for overseeing the drivers and vehicles. Duties include planning bus routes, scheduling vehicle maintenance, organizing vehicle/driver records, and maintaining all pertinent paperwork. The transportation coordinator addresses parent concerns and questions, maintenance issues, and will be responsible for addressing all safety concerns pertaining to vehicle function and bus routes (construction zones, detours, etc.) This administrator should be organized, observant, responsive, have good communication skills, and must pay good attention to detail.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 20
  • Completed second year of college (or equivalent)
  • Excellent Driving Record
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to obtain ARC First Aid and CPR Certifications
  • Computer Literate

Riding Director

The Head Riding Counselor should have experience teaching and organizing riding lessons for children of all ages and abilities, and would benefit from a previous knowledge of Roughing It’s riding program. It is the responsibility of the head riding counselor to oversee the entire day camp riding program, plan the instructional curriculum, supervise staff, and assist in managing and maintaining the site. The head riding counselor is also required to complete written evaluations of staff and campers, and will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as needed.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 21
  • Ability to obtain ARC First Aid and CPR Certifications
  • Excellent Driving Record and Valid Drivers License

Riding Assistant Director

The Assistant Head Riding Counselor should have experience teaching and organizing riding lessons for children of all ages and abilities. It is also recommended that the assistant head riding counselor have prior experience supervising staff, and would benefit from having been employed by Roughing It before. The assistant head riding counselor is a riding instructor, and also directs a daily after camp riding program for up to 18 campers. Other duties of the assistant head riding counselor include assisting the head riding counselor in supervising staff and helping to maintain and manage the site, including the horses. The assistant head riding counselor will complete written evaluations of staff and campers, and will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as needed.

Horse Day Camp Director

The Horse Day Camp (HDC) Coordinator should have experience teaching and organizing riding lessons for children of all ages and abilities, and would benefit from a previous knowledge of Roughing It’s riding program. It is the responsibility of the HDC coordinator to oversee the entire HDC riding program. This person must supervise staff, help HDC counselors plan their instructional curriculum, and assist in managing and maintaining the riding site. The HDC coordinator is also required to complete written evaluations of staff and campers, and will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as needed.

Outdoor Explorers Director

The Outdoor Explorers Director must have experience teaching and organizing lessons and activities in the outdoors. This position oversees the entire Outdoor Explorers program and assist staff in preparing the curriculum for outdoor living skills, nature exploration, crafts, fishing, and rowing. This position will manage scheduling and camper and staff assignments for multiple activities each day, and must have excellent organization skills. S/he will communicate with parents and must have outstanding communication and problem solving skills. This person also completes written evaluations of staff and campers, and will write weekly updates for the camp newsletter. The position may assist ResClub during after-camp extended care as needed. It is preferred for the Head OE Counselor to have previously worked at our camp, or had similar experience at another organization.

The Head Waterfront Counselor should have experience teaching and organizing lessons and activities in fishing, rowing, canoeing, and kayaking. It is beneficial for the head waterfront director to have worked, and become familiar with our organization through previous employment, or through other camp experiences. It is the responsibility of the head waterfront counselor to oversee the entire waterfront program and assist staff in preparing the waterfront curriculum for fishing, rowing, canoeing, and kayaking. The head waterfront counselor is also required to complete written evaluations of staff and campers, and will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as needed.

Waterfront Assistant Director

The Assistant Head Waterfront Counselor should have experience teaching and organizing lessons and activities in rowing, canoeing, kayaking, and especially fishing. It is also recommended that the assistant head waterfront counselor have prior experience supervising staff, and would benefit from having been employed by Roughing It before. The assistant head waterfront counselor will assist in all areas of the waterfront, and also directs a daily, after camp fishing program for up to 16 campers. Other duties of the assistant head waterfront counselor include assisting the head waterfront counselor in supervising staff and helping to create challenging and fun activities at the waterfront for campers of all ages and abilities. The assistant head waterfront counselor will also complete written evaluations of staff and campers, and will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as needed.
