Part-time employees primarily work at our downtown Lafayette Office. During the summer months part-time staff also help with camp operations in our summer office across from the Lafayette Reservoir. Our office team is made up of other camp moms, dads, and college-age students. The work environment is fun and open. Job responsibilities are exciting and rewarding, with room for skill growth.

Marketing Assistants manage our website and help plan, develop, and implement new content and improvements to the website. They also help in related marketing areas, including website analytics, analytics, and inbound marketing. The ideal candidate will be able to learn new tasks, systems, and tools to support our overall mission.
Assistants are normally hired to provide assistance and support in one primary area of our organization. However, our camp office is fast paced and there are times when assistants are assigned projects and responsibilities in other areas. As a result, the ideal candidate will have skills in a variety of areas and be flexible when taking on different projects.
The HR assistant is an integral member of our team and contributes greatly to the successful hiring of our summer staff. As part of our office team, this person will interact with both camp staff and camper families on a regular basis. You will have the opportunity to make many positive contributions to the lives of our campers and staff.

Roughing It Day Camp occasionally hires a freelance content editor/writer for blogs, articles, posts and camp pieces. Ideally someone with an appreciation of the outdoors and /or summer camps. The Media Assistant assists in communication with camper families through various forms of written and oral communication, creating and managing content for all forms of media, ans well as assisting with general office duties.
Horse Camps Coordinator
Roughing It has offered a variety of horse camps during its history and continues to offer and develop new and innovative horse camps for the children of the San Francisco Bay Area. The major (and most important) horse program is the Roughing It day camp horseback riding in which 60-90 campers ride each day of the eight week camp season.
The Horse Camps Coordinator is supervised by the Camp Owner/Directors and collaborates closely with the Marketing Coordinator and Personnel Coordinator. There are specific performance objectives for both camper recruitment and staff recruitment upon which an annual performance bonus is based.
The Registrar is often the first point of contact at Roughing It for campers and families who are registering for camp or calling in with questions. He or she is indispensable as a connection with our camper families, as an office manager, and as an account manager.
