Junior Counselor Program
The Junior Counselor Program is a volunteer position for teens entering 11th or
12th grade or graduating from high school.
Junior Counselors participate in a six-day staff training
program. Under the guidance of the adult staff, you help lead and teach younger
campers in a variety of outdoor activities. Develop youth leadership skills,
earn community service credits, and add to your resume. Many of our best
staff members have graduated from our teen program, become Junior counselors,
and then been hired as assistant program staff.
Volunteer to be a Roughing It Junior Counselor for four or
eight weeks and learn leadership skills that last you a lifetime!

Junior Counselor Requirements:
- Be entering their junior or
senior year of high school
- Attend Junior Counselor
informational meeting with your parent before Staff Training begins
- Able to commit to a
complete 4 or 8 week session.
- Attend our 6 day Staff
Training - June 18 - June 22
- Attend Junior Counselor
Meetings - Once a week during their session on Thursdays after
camp (3:00 - 4:30pm)
- Attend the Overnight each
session they commit to
- Submit completed Junior
Counselor Application form and ALL camper registration forms by
May 1st
- Able to follow all RI
Personnel and Dress code(s)
- Follow all camp rules.

How to apply:
Please complete the following steps and submit forms by May 1st.

Junior Counselor application
- Complete the
Camper Registration Form
- Complete
New Camper Application (unless you have submitted one in the
past 4 years)
- Complete the
Health Verification Form
- Attend an informational meeting / interview with your parent
before Staff Training begins.
Job Opportunities for Graduating Seniors
In addition to volunteer positions, graduating High School
seniors are eligible to apply for one of our paid Support Staff positions. All
of Roughing It's paid staff must be at least 18 years old and have graduated
