Opening Circle
Each camp day begins as the whole camp assembles together for Opening Circle with announcements, singing, and skits.
The Camp Schedule
The schedule for the rest of the day consists of less structured Group Time planned by the group counselor, and fixed scheduled activities with formal instruction for all ability levels taught by the program specialist staff.
Group Time
The group counselor organizes Group Time so it is fun and appropriate for their particular campers. Traditional camp games like capture the flag, circle games, hiking, singing, lunch, quite activities and rest time are enjoyed by campers with their friends in their own group.
Scheduled Activities
The scheduled activities include Team Sports taught in a non-competitive manner; Outdoor Education, creative nature Crafts, and Animal Care. At Waterfront, all campers enjoy learning to fish and row. Our Swim Director supervises the Swimming Program taught by our certified swim staff. Campers who are ready participate in American Red Cross swim lessons; and we offer our own water readiness program for the young non-swimmer. Campers swim three times each week.
Special Events/Activities
Little Raccoons make one short excursion out to the day camp riding site in Moraga. While they do not actually ride they have an opportunity to to meet our camp horses and to participate in an introductory horse readiness session. They also have the opportunity to visit our Ranch Day Camp in Lafayette and meet some of our farm animals and learn about cowboys and ranch life. The Little Raccoons also are frequently treated to a special activity organized by our CILTS (Campers in Leadership Training) or one of our teen camper groups.
Closing Circle
Each day ends with the whole camp assembling for Closing Circle with announcements, more songs, more skits and recognition of campers and groups who overcame a special challenge during the camp day.
