Everyone Reaches New Heights at Roughing It!

Hope you had "The Time of Your Life!"

– Counselor Erika Murdock with her group, ESPN 9 (G6), Session 2

Friends, Memories and Lessons Learned
at Camp Last Throughout the Year!

Summer 2004 was filled with special camp memories. Many campers tried activities for the first time, overcame fears, learned new life skills, made new friends, and saw their confidence increase with each new day. We shared hugs, smiles, laughs, new experiences, encouraging words, and it is hard to believe that another camp season has come to an end.

– Amy Woods, Assistant Director and Head Counselor

Staff experience is the key!

40 out of 65 staff returned this season!

Fun!

I really liked Roughing It because everyone was so nice and kind."

– Christopher, B4/5, 1st year camper

Growth and Encouragement

"My son gained confidence in so many areas, tackling fears and gaining skills he'd never before attempted. Roughing It seems to offer just the right encouragement in terms of mastering activities, and the right approach to interpersonal relationships. It's so refreshing to find an oasis of innocence, a place where childhood is honored, where cynicism and irony have yet to encroach. I will definitely send my child next year because he loves it and I think it's been a great experience."

– Lisa, mother of a B4/5, 1st year camper

Old Friends, New Friends Build Camp Community

"My most memorable moment this session occurred when three members from our group entered into "Disco Dancing," "Robot Imitation" and "Rock Star Imitation" competitions at Closing Circle. Each camper went up and gave his best performance and all three were voted best impression. The really awesome part was watching the rest of my group cheer on their fellow group members as they acted in front of camp. The support and pride were evident."

– Greg Boschetti, B4 Counselor, 3rd year

The Power of Positive Role Models

"What I liked most about Roughing It was spending time with the younger campers and helping out with their groups. Katie and Lacey were my favorite staff because they were great role models and fun to be around. Adventure Paul was awesome too because he provided challenging activities, but always helped us succeed. I love Roughing It!"

– Nicole, CILT, 6th year camper

Our Experienced Staff Make the Difference

"It was great to see my old favorite counselors return! I don't think my parents and I could have picked a better camp for me to go to for ten years! I'll see you next summer!"

– Grace, CILT, 10th year camper

New Experiences

"We love the team focus and the positive approach of Roughing It. I'm impressed with my children's enthusiasm for going back next year, and I was thrilled that my somewhat reluctant six year-old sailed through the overnight."

– Christine, mother of Sam & Rebecca, B4/5 & K, 3rd & 1st year campers

Positive Teamwork Builds Self-Confidence

"My son loves all the activities, especially hiking, rowing, fishing, and horseback riding – you can't get that at other camps! His self-confidence and independence improved greatly both summers he has been at Roughing It.”

– Jennifer & Bill, parents of a B1/2, 2nd year camper

Achievement

"One of my favorite moments of camp this summer was when one of my campers realized he could swim and wanted to try many things on his own. It was great to see him and all the other campers overcoming fears and accomplishing so many things in such a short time."

– Rachel Zisook, Swim Counselor, 2nd year
