Ranch Horse Reviews
Our campers and staff have provided reviews of their favorite horses.  We asked them a variety of questions from "What is your favorite thing to do with this horse" and "Does this horse have a special talent" to "If this horse were a person and had a hobby, what would it be?"  They gave us a variety of wonderful answers and we have put them together for everyone to see.  Enjoy!

  • Baker
Baker is a favorite among our campers for his friendly, easy going attitude.  Our campers say that he is patient, trustworthy, and enthusiastic.  He is a steady, quiet horse who is trusty on trail and a great leader.  He loves to jump and be bathed.  If he were a person, his hobby would probably be sports because he is always on the move.  Some of our campers would say he is very much like a person since he has even been known to smile!

  • Petie
Petie is a little horse with a big personality.  He loves to barrel race, herd the calves at our Ranch Camp, and he is always ready to go out on trail and have fun.  He has such a great time on trail that it is contagious. He has helped some of our campers overcome their fears on trail and develop new skills such as riding up and down hills, listening, and team work.  He is enthusiastic and hard working, and our campers who ride Petie all say they learned how to connect with a horse.  Our campers love his smooth lope and his great sense of humor.  He has even been known to untie lead ropes and open gates.  If he were a person, he would probably be short and have brown hair.  He would like to take walks in the mountains and would be a comedian or an entertainer.

  • Chantilly
Chantilly, or Tilly as she is fondly known, is "awesome".  She is a great trail horse and she loves to check everything out that is going on around her.  Her curiosity sometimes means that she needs little reminders to focus, but riding Tilly is a great way to learn how to keep a horse on task and gain confidence in your own ability to be the leader of a horse and rider team.  If Tilly were a person, she would probably be one of those people who always has a lot of different projects going at once.  She might never get any of them done, but you would have to love her for her enthusiasm and her willingness to try new things.

  • Digger
Campers love Digger for her smooth gaits and funny, spunky personality.  They love to spend time with Digger, doing everything from grooming to jumping to playing games on horseback.  She has helped our campers become more confident, great team players, and to develop skills like riding up and down hills.  Her special talent is that she can touch her tongue to her nose and some of her favorite things to do are go on trail, be patted, barrel race, and be ridden by our campers.  In fact, she loves to be ridden so much that some of our campers say she will bend down for them to get on!

  • Jimmy
Jimmy is a handsome horse with a funny personality.  He has been known to stick his tongue out at campers and always seems to be having a good time.  He is a great teacher who has taught campers everything from trail riding skills to how to listen and connect with a horse.  His favorite things to do are to be patted, groomed, and fed.  If he were a person, he would probably be a comedian given his funny temperament.

  • Chiquita
Chiquita may not have the smoothest jog in the world, but she is still a lot of fun to ride.  A little bit of encouragement goes a long way with Chiquita, and it is neat to see how well she responds to her rider.  She is gentle, enthusiastic, and beautiful, inside and out.  If she were a person, she would be a rodeo clown who saves cowboys from the bulls.  She is lots of fun and very funny, but she also has a heart of gold.

  • Nicki
Nicki is a very smart horse and responds well to her rider.  She loves to go out on trail and can even help her rider open gates.  She is a good leader as well, and she is always alert to what is going on around her.  She works hard, and has helped our campers learn patience and how to connect with a horse.  If Nicki were a person, she would be a die-hard shopper.
