Staff Positions
Arts & Crafts Counselor
The Arts & Crafts Counselor is responsible for Roughing It's entire crafts program. This
counselor orders and organizes all crafts supplies, plans age appropriate craft
activities/projects, and facilitates and supervises the arts & crafts program
for campers ages 4-16. Projects range from beginner collages to more advanced
plaster masks, woodworking, and pottery. The arts & crafts counselor will also
direct a bi- weekly after camp crafts workshop/program for up to 18 campers.
S/he also will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on bus routes for our
day camp and camp plus programs as needed. The crafts counselor must be creative, patient, and would benefit from previous
experience teaching and organizing a crafts program. Prior experience working with
children is strongly recommended.

Adventure Counselor
The Adventure Counselor is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing the
Roughing It Adventure Program. Activities include: teambuilding initiatives, rock
climbing, low ropes, orienteering, and mountain biking. This program is offered to
campers of all ages, but focuses most attention towards teen camper group. Life skills
are taught through this program and are illustrated and reinforced through
cooperative teamwork, goal setting, as well as group and individual accomplishments.
The adventure counselor must have advanced skills in rock climbing, and should have
experience working with teens. S/he also will be asked to accompany and
supervise campers on bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as
needed. It is recommended that this counselor be comfortable
facilitating team-building activities, and would be helpful if s/he has had previous
experience working in this capacity.

Sports Counselor
The Sports Counselor is responsible for Roughing It's entire sports program, and will
plan age appropriate activities for campers of all ages and athletic abilities. This
counselor facilitates and supervises the day camp sports program and also directs a bi-
weekly after camp sports workshop for up to 18 campers. S/he is required to maintain
all sports equipment and and will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on
bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as needed. The sports counselor should have a strong
background in many sports, and will be expected to teach a broad range of skills.
Previous experience working with children is strongly recommended, especially in a
teaching role.

Environment Educator
The Environmental Education Counselor will organize and implement a camp
curriculum focusing around nature appreciation, environmental awareness, as well
as other topics pertaining to animals and their habitats. These topics are
taught to campers of all ages, through fun activities, discussions, and nature
exploration. The environmental education counselor will assist other reservoir
staff in organizing and implementing activities for our after camp program and
will be asked to accompany and supervise campers on bus routes for our day camp
and camp plus programs as needed. This counselor should
have a strong knowledge of the environment and other related subjects, and would
benefit from prior experience teaching topics of nature. Experience working with
children is strongly recommended.

Outdoor Counselor
The Outdoor Counselor will create and implement a camp curriculum that includes:
outdoor cooking, map and compass skills, wilderness exploration, outdoor living
skills, as well as some other lessons in wilderness survival and first aid. This
counselor will plan fun activities that are age appropriate and challenging for
campers 4-16 years old. S/he is responsible for leading and supervising campers
in wilderness related activities, and should have the training and knowledge
necessary in order to successfully teach these skills and activities. The
outdoor counselor will assist the adventure counselor and other reservoir staff
in teaching and organizing after camp programs and will accompany and supervise
campers on bus routes for our day camp and camp plus programs as
needed. Previous experience working with children is strongly recommended.
