Directions to Lafayette Reservoir
Address: 3849 Mt. Diablo Rd, Lafayette CA 94549
From Walnut Creek, Concord, Danville:
- Take Highway 680 to Walnut Creek
- Go west on Highway 24 at Walnut Creek
- Take Acalanes Rd./Upper Happy Valley Rd. exit
- Bear to the right onto Acalanes Rd and go under freeway
- Go left at first stop light
onto Mt. Diablo Blvd
- Go 1/2 mile to sign "Lafayette Reservoir". Turn right into
reservoir and follow access road up to toll gate. It costs $6.00 to
park inside the reservoir for the day
- Park near left side of levy and
follow bike path up hill
From Berkeley, Oakland:
- Follow Highway 580 to Highway 24
- Take Highway 24 through Caldecott Tunnel
- Take Acalanes Rd./Mt. Diablo Blvd exit off of Highway 24
- At stop light, continue straight onto Mt. Diablo Blvd
- Go 1/2 mile to sign "Lafayette Reservoir". Turn right into reservoir and follow access road up to toll gate.
It costs $6.00 to park inside the reservoir for the day.

I-80 East to I-580 East Detour Route, Option 1
From 80E (the Bay Bridge), take the West Grand Ave exit,
head east on West Grand Ave to Northgate Ave. Go north (left) on
Northgate Ave which leads to the 27th Street on-ramp for Hwy 24 or
580E (shown by the green arrows on the map below). Please use
extreme caution while driving this detour route as it makes it way
through neighborhoods with children playing and going to school.
I-80 East to I-580 East Detour Route, Option 2
From 80E (the Bay Bridge), take I-880 southbound, and then
take the Broadway-Alameda exit. Stay in the off-ramp’s left lane
and turn right onto 7th Street. Continue on 7th Street and then
turn left on Castro Street. Continue on Castro Street to the 12th
Street on-ramp to Route 980.
